First, make sure your anti-virus and spyware protection programs are updated (current). If you do not have a separate spyware protection program, download and update one (some of what you describe is spyware, not virus, and anti-virus programs may find them but not fix them).
Then turn off your system restore and restart in safe mode (F8 while restarting).
Run full-system scans/repairs/deletes.
Reboot into normal mode.
Turn on system restore.

your system files could have been compromised as well.
i suggest backing up all your important files and reinstalling after you exhausted all your options.
if you have antivirus software which i presume you do, run it. if it can't detect or completely remove the virus run an online scanner. also run a spyware/malware cleaner. the trojan is most probably duplicating so you can't completely remove it.

DON'T CLICK TO DOWNLOAD! You have to use a decent virus scanner to scan and delete the virus. Also, run Ad-Aware to get rid of spyware. It also seems as though someone has hijacked your HOSTS file, so websites redirect to other sites. AVG is a good one. Even if you scan it and it tells you the name of the virus, you can then google the name of the virus and most of the time you can find simple step by step manual removal instructions. I prefer this way myself because then you know what has happened. This way you know nothing was changed or quarantined that may cause other problems.
Just remember if you are going to do this and you need to remove any registration keys its good to make a backup copy of any keys that you remove in case it turns out it has done damage you can put it back or find a replacement from the net.
Get adaware and run it.

A few things:
check in the history of viruses found in the NAV interface. Does it show a location? If it is temporary internet files? it may have just blocked access and never committed the file to you hard drive hence the access denied (meaning it denied you or the application that was downloading it from getting access).
I imagine the box is clean, look for the file manually in the location that it tells you it found it originally.
Update your defs to current and run a full system scan.
If it turns out finding nothing you should be clean.
If you want to test that Norton is not damaged try the Anti-Virus test string for detection called Eicar (download a non-zipped version). I have included the source website below. It is a non-malicious string that all vendors detect on for testing purposes.
It's best to scan with several virus/spyware programs. There's several online ones free that you can use. I like panda and bitdefender best because they've found the most viruses. Bitdefender is slower but supposedly high rated. Norton causes crashes on startup sometimes. AVG is a lemming that tells you where the virus is and doesnt really remove it. Adaware is best for removing spyware.

I've never had a problem with them. But you need to keep in mind you're still a child yourself so if you don't want to end up pregnant you don't need to be having sex. I'm glad you did use protection but keep in mind the only 100% protection against becoming pregnant is not having sex.
i've used norton a.v. and had to manually quarantine most traces of this bug. but it has popped up again when i clicked on the updates icon on my taskbar.
I believe i was infected when i downloaded a bit torrent and installed the application within.
How it has affected my computer:
- first i received an pop-up error message about needing to run a really weird .dll. i clicked ''cancel''. shortly thereafter another error with missing .dll. i clicked ''ok'' i think.

What I think is that you do not want to buy an antivirus so that it removes Trojan. I happened for the same situation, McAffe did not erase it and the only one programmes that it did it, was Windows Live OneCare. Try it, they give to you 90 days.

what this program does is it moves, deletes, renames files/folders that can't be touched when it boots. Because when you boot your computer, nothing's running, so the files aren't write protected. so therefore, to delete, you have to reboot your system. next thing u know, it's gone

It is possible that it is badware, telling you this so you will buy the software to remove it and there is in fact no infection. if you are getting lots of popups telling you this then you probably have badware, use rogue remover to get rid of that. if you really are infected, then use antivir to remove it.
Ok i got MacAfee and is not able to shutdown, as most of you know. Macafee wont turn off just enough time for me to use my program which requires a .dll file to run. The program is not a trojen, beacuse i tell it what to edit from the file. Macafee thinks its a trojen beacuse it can alter with my files. Is there a way to use my program by eaither turning off macafee, without uninstalling it, or another way. MacaFee doesnt even allow me the choise of deleting the file or not. It jus delets it

I had the same problem. Mcafee doesnt know what to do with trojans. I got AVG, then i turned AVG into a complete firewall so nothing can do anything without my approval, then i removed mcafee and used AVG...its free and better than mcafee.
BTW i used avg for the complete firewall to keep mcafee from deleting windows components. i wasnt gonna take any chances. The last time i tried to get rid of mcafee, i lost paint and volume control from my windows components.

If your antivirus is finding and deleting it but it immediately returns, that indicates that the infection got into you restore files.
All you should have to do in this case is to turn off your System Restore temporarily, re-run your scan (preferably in safe mode), restart your computer and turn System Restore back on.

You don't need a new computer. You DO need to get this one cleaned up. Free software or phony virus programs won't help--they just make matters worse.
Do yourself a favor and make sure you have a REAL virus protector in place and keep it up to date. DO NOT use one of the free registry scrubbers or antivirus tools so many here suggest. Some of these are just ok, but far too many are themselves evilware and most of them are pretty flimsy. Some actually implant other spyware, adware or even viruses or trojans on your system and make things worse--far worse. The problem with a weak antivirus program is that it gives you a false sense of security--like Airborne cold-preventer. Using nothing at all would be better as you would be more careful about where you venture on the Internet.
I have not exaustively tested the top-rated dozen or so serious antivirus programs (of the many dozen out there) but PCWorld has; so has Consumer Reports. AVG is the lowest-rated. Hi there,
I received a file the other day and it infected explorer.exe almost immediately. I attempted to restore my system, however to no avail.
Kaspersky has picked up the virus and removed it, however upon rebooting my system wasnt the same. There were no desktop icons or start menu. The only way I am able to access anything is through alt-ctrl-del and adding tasks. This was how I was able to continue to monitor my system .
Kaspersky is not finding any 'nasties' now, my system seems relatively clean. It is the problem with explorer.exe being deleted or quarantined from what I have read so far.

Your explorer.exe file was probably severely corrupted, that you will most likely need to completely re-install your operating system. Soon you will probably start getting the bsod (Blue Screen of Death)
The solution from the person who answered right before me only works about 5% of the time. Explorer.exe is a system process that automatically boots up at the same time as windows. If it is not coming up automatically, you will most likely need to re-install windows.
As well, all starting a new task and typing explorer.exe in will do is bring up your My Documents folder. It will NOT load your start menu or desktop. Explorer.exe has to boot normally, automatically, and by its self for it to properly load these things.

I would recommend you invest in a proper security suite (antivirus, firewall, antispyware, etc) from one reliable vendor (like mcafee or even norton) and ensure it is properly configured and kept completely up to date.
The trojan you have psw.generic5 the last letters seem to change randomly... is something that you allowed your computer to download and install... whether it was despite the warnings from your security or whether you had no security to begin with... the proper thing to do now is to identify the bug, identify whether it requires any manual removal, and update/upgrade your security to eradicate and protect in future.
You can try doing a web based scan from symantec.com to see if it has manual instructions.

AVG FREE is a great one, it blasted one that i had that was really hard to get rid of.

First of all, there is no such thing as ''a Trojan Virus''. It's like calling a vehicle ''a motorcycle car''. Trojan horses and viruses are two different kinds of malicious programs. The fundamental difference between them is that viruses replicate themselves, while Trojan horses do not.
Assuming that you have a Trojan horse on your computer, it won't transfer itself anywhere - neither on your mobile nor anywhere else - because, as mentioned above, Trojan horses don't replicate themselves. Case closed.
Now, if you have a virus on your PC, things get more interesting. Basically, the answer of your question depends on the exact nature of the virus and the exact model of your mobile device.

Wipe them. Healing them is really only for infected system files. Since you cannot delete system files, it attempts to 'heal them' or in other words return them to their normal state
If they can not be healed, then wipe! If they are very pesky... then other applications are necessary for removal. McAfee Stinger is pretty good; and FxSasser (by Symantec) is kinda good too. Some virus scanners will misrepresent viral infections! The program could think it is one type of virus and it could be another. If you absolutely have to remove the file and Windows will not allow it... then try using MiniPE2-XT. Doing so could cause you computer not to function properly. MiniPE2-XT is a bootable image that has some really great tools on it. There has been a few cases where I have had to remove totally infected/corrupted system files and crash windows to remove viruses. Then I repaired Windows. Re-installation of the OS is the absolute last option and there is only one time when I have had to do it... and I have been a PC tech for quite a while. GOOD LUCK!

I sucessfully removed the virus by running several spyware programs. I got it checked by Norton and McAfee and they said I was clean. But now my internet broswer no longer worls like before. I used IE, Mozilla Firefox, Netscape and Opera but Flash (as in games) and videos no longer work on my compter. Any tips / ideas?
You may still have what is known as ''trace spyware'', in your system. Download the free version of Superantispyware and when you install, run a indepth scan. You will also get auto. updates daily. This program is known to find what all other miss, or don't clean 100%.

This is what i did when i was affectted by this same annoying virus. I just simply restored my system which means that i restored my computer to the day before the virus was affected. For example, my computer was affectted by this virus on a wednesday, and i restored my computer to tuesday, so all the files that you downloaded on wednesday and after will be gone including the virus. I went to programs, accesories, system tools and clicked system restore.There you just simply click the date u want your computer to be in. Trust me this is the best way to remove a virus. Good luck!

Along with avg antivirus, I suggest you download avg free antispyware and avg free rootkit. They are free-install ,update and scan....., it should solve problem.
PS:- not all trojan horse can be detected by antivirus. Add more protection using antispyware and rootkit program from avg
First name what type of trojan you have.

after researching this some, it appear that most antispyware and antivirus software cannot delete this, and the ones that can are costly. Is there a free method this can be done? (preferably not manual deletion, but i would like to know that way too.)

Download them and check for updates then run in Safe Mode. To get into Safe Mode, reboot and then either hold down or tap the F8 key repeatedly while the computer is starting up.
If you cannot get it removed after the above, you may want to join a tech group that specializes in providing manual instructions on malware eradication.

You need to purchase a Virus program to correct the problem. System restore will not remove it. If you have Comcast as your Internet provider, you can download McAfee for free. Otherwise, purchase Norton or Acfee Anti-Virus. Trust me, it is worth the money. Otherwise, your computer will slowly collapse.
quarantine the virus, then delete it
First if you have the full version of a antivirus product it should either delete or quarantine the virus.
Try the RESTORE first as that has helped me before. Now not for all viruses. Cause in my earlier days, I tried this first, and sometimes I ending up doing a hard Recovery. That was before I understood how antivirus programs worked.
I hate this too. I downloaded an antivirus program to supposedly try out. Then all of a sudden I get a virus and if I buy the software they will get rid of the virus for you. Sure. I used restore and the virus disappeared. I did the same download again and the same thing. When I get time I will report them.
Anyway, if for some reason it should fail, then you can do a soft recovery. Back up your data files. Then in the hard recovery your computer is reformatted and set back to factory settings. So you would want to back up your files and programs you want. Back up the set up programs too, so you do not waste time downloading the set up program.
Norton cannot delete it from my computer. I tried to get the file deleted through Run but it will not let me.anyway its in my [c:\documents and settins\shared\limewire pro 4.8.0-newer version.rar]. can someone please help!!

2. Before it opens (Windows not the bios), PRESS F6, choose ''safemode''.
3. JUST DELETE the File that is infected.
4. If ''Access denied'', Run the norton anti-virus again
5. If it will not remove the virus...Install AVG antivirus and scan your computer...
go to start menu click run then type msconfig .. hit enter then go to BOOT.ini tab make sure you check safeboot, click ok, restart and run norton or delete the virus.

This is because ie does stuff up your computer and it is easily corrupted and gained access to. Firefox is much more secure and if a page needs ie download an extension for ff called ie tab.

Contact AVG technical support at grisoft dot com. You will probably find this is an error in detection ( a false positive ). Make sure you have the latest updates, that may solve your problem as well. No antivirus program is immune to mistakes, as they are created by human beings.

yesterday i got the trojan off my computer by this program Prevx... i was so relieved! oh if u find programs like spy heal, antivermins, or anything related to them... do not download! trojans are controlling those programs!! ur computer will get worse...
